- Modifications made to QB Contain logic to mitigate pass rush exploit known as the ‘Loop Blitz’:
- Only defenders on the line of scrimmage will be able to be assigned QB Contain
- If there is a pass rusher aligned outside of the contain defender, the Contain Defender will rush the C Gap to avoid putting multiple rushers in the same gap
- DEV NOTE: These changes are meant to bring balance to the ‘Loop Blitz’ exploit, while also offering more authentic rush lanes - specifically by trying to avoid putting multiple rushers in the same gap, or getting a contain player inside of an adjacent rusher. We will continue to monitor these changes in the live game and will continue to make tuning adjustments if necessary.
- Fixed an issue causing the ball to appear in the wrong hand during the Stefon Diggs signature touchdown celebration
- Addressed an issue causing the WR’s route to change from a streak to a goal-line fade after sending the receiver in motion

- DEV NOTE: This fix is intended to prevent a random position-change for active and newly-created careers after the update; it will not update save files that have already been impacted because doing so could wipe out an active career in the original position save-slot. We will continue to monitor this issue in the live game and look to address any other instances that may occur.

Franchise Mode Update:Our team is continuing to work on the Franchise Cloud Save issue from 12/28, alongside this Title Update. Further analysis has determined that this issue affected around 2% of all leagues created since launch.
Our team has made progress on restoring backups and we are targeting early next week to restore the leagues that could be recovered. However, the current recommendation is for players to start a new league, as not all leagues will be recoverable.
Play Now Live Update:
Our Franchise Team has added an additional starting point of Week 17 for players starting new Franchises via the “Play Now Live” option. This update will go live via a server side update around the Title Update. There is also a previously scheduled Wild Card update coming next week.

- Fixed an issue causing the ball to be in the wrong hand on some first down celebrations and some TD celebrations
- Fixed an issue causing a defensive preplay fidget animation to move a defender into the neutral zone and cause an offsides penalty at the snap
- Tuning to the angles and distances at which oncoming defenders will be detected as applying pressure on the QB during the throw
- DEV NOTE: The tuning done to pressure detection is with the intent of decreasing the likelihood of getting an ‘Under Pressure Inaccurate’ pass when attempting to throw the ball quickly vs. blitz.
- Tuning to reduce catch-chance for non-ability receivers attempting aggressive catches in traffic
- DEV NOTE: This tuning is meant to decrease the frequency of successful aggressive catches in traffic when using receivers without aggressive-catch abilities
- Tuning to reduce catch chances for defenders attempting to catch throw-out-of-sack passes behind the LOS
- Fixed an issue that was heavily penalizing defenders when attempting to catch tipped passes in traffic
- DEV NOTE: Defenders’ catch chance is globally reduced when considered to be ‘in traffic’ to reflect the difficulties of securing a catch alongside other players. This change will reduce the amount of penalty applied when the ball has already been tipped or knocked up into the air to give defenders a better chance at intercepting tipped balls.

- Dev Note: Since Title Update 4 launched, we have been working hard to improve Franchise Mode. Since then we have fixed two of the highest priority issues: the 32 User Online Franchise Bug and the Draft Revert Bug. Rest assured we are not done and are working towards more fixes for you in the future.
- Tuning to REP to better align the rewards between the LB and CB positions for defensive actions and achievements, including teammate sacks, assisted tackles and defensive touchdowns.
- DEV NOTE: Through progression and gameplay data, we were seeing differing rewards for the same actions across the LB and CB positions. This tuning will align the rewards for defensive-position progression closer to offensive-position progression that began in the last title update.
- Stability improvements
- MUT Practice Mode - We are happy to announce that this title update will be including one of the top requested features from our players with Practice Mode. Players will now have a purpose built environment to test out their lineups and strategies before they take them into the competitive arena.
- This mode will include the standard settings that are available to players in our regular Practice Mode with the addition of a hot button to take you directly to your lineup. This means players can change players and playbooks without having to back out of the screen.
- Additionally, players can set their Practice Type, Skill Level and Game Style to simulate any kind of challenge they might face in MUT.
- Superstar X-Factors and Superstar Abilities are enabled so users can easily test and experiment with all abilities available in Ultimate Team.
- X-Factors will function as normal in MUT Practice mode. Players will be able to complete the activation steps and power up, then completing the deactivation criteria will turn the X-Factor off.
- At this time, this feature does not include 2nd controller support, but we are aware how important that functionality is to our players and we are investigating adding it.

This fix allows players to sign their second contract and advance to season 2 if they were blocked from advancing prior to the October update.

DEV NOTE: Today’s Title Update is our largest yet for Madden NFL 23 and improves many aspects of the game such as; Franchise, MUT, Gameplay, Authenticity, and Player Likeness. This update also addresses many of the reported issues we have had since launch. While not every issue has been resolved today, more fixes are coming with future updates as we continue to actively work to bring you the best possible experience. - Fixed an issue with pass block targeting resulting in an interior pass rusher being left unblocked when the defense would use a specific pre-snap set-up in the 4-3 Even 61 formations.
- Fixed an issue with pass block targeting that would allow edge rushers to be unblocked when pinching the defensive line and bringing down the safety on Nickel Over Storm Brave vs. a pass-blocked running back.
- Improved Block and Release logic for tight ends so they don’t release so quickly in scenarios where there is a rusher for him to block; also improved blocking animations so they are better at engaging or impact blocking rushers on collision.
- Fixed an issue with pass block targeting allowing an unblocked rusher when the defense would pinch their linebackers and sit a linebacker in a gap in the Dollar 3-2 Spinner play.
- Changed QB Contain assignment logic so second level defenders, stack linebackers and defenders lined up in those positions will not be able to be assigned QB Contain.
- Fixed an issue with pass block targeting allowing a defensive end to be unblocked out of Nickel Over Blitz.
- Fixed an issue causing multiple mid-air interaction animations to trigger before the ball arrived, causing the receiver to miss the ball.
- Tuning to catching for Wide Receivers to catch less tipped balls.
- Fixed an issue preventing the Interception Gameplay Slider from significantly impacting the catch frequency for defenders.
- Fixed a catching animation issue causing running backs to turn the wrong way on a catch coming out of the backfield.
- Fixed a catching animation preventing receivers from attempting a catch asking for a RAC catch on a smoke screen.
- Fixed a catching animation issue causing the receiver to use an effort catch on a catchable pass.

- Dev Note: This was leading to issues with losing progress due to being disconnected, and users unable to progress in face of the franchise at contract negotiation points
- Fixed an issue where CPU teams would immediately end negotiations with a player if they don’t have the cap space to negotiate with them.
- Dev Note: If the CPU team does not have enough Cap Space to make an offer on a player during in-season re-signing, they will now wait to make a final decision until the offseason Re-Sign period. This waiting period will allow for additional opportunities in Cap movement to occur that may result in a team gaining enough Cap Space to make an offer at a later date.

- Dev Note: A new set of player targeting logic was developed for CPU controlled teams to improve decision making when determining who they should attempt to re-sign each year. The logic better differentiates between elite, developing and depth players resulting in the CPU making more of an effort to first secure their starters and developing young players before looking to fill any depth or hold on to aging veterans.
- Fixed an issue where using a skill point on the Playmaker archetype was not increasing the correct attributes
- Dev Note: Using a skill point on this archetype will now give your player the greatest likelihood of increasing their Juke Move, Break Tackle and Ball Carrier Vision. Other top attributes that can potentially improve include but are not limited to Awareness, Catching, Catch in Traffic, Medium Route Running and Short Route Running.
